Obama Transition To Power: The WidgetNovember 19
One of the most popular topics on socialmedian right now is the Obama Transition to Power.  What will an Obama White House look like?  Who will get which jobs?  What will his initial priorities be?  Where will his kids go to school?

One of the most popular user requests on socialmedian is for widgets
-- the ability to take a piece of socialmedian and add dynamic content to your own website or blog.

Today we're excited to launch the socialmedian  Obama Transition To Power Widget

This widget provides a live feed of news stories and user activities related to Obama's transition to power.

Let's Throw The DeadPool in the DeadPoolOctober 21
There was an interesting discussion on socialmedian today regarding the daily "deadpool" and "layoff tracker" updates on sites like TechCrunch.

It's sensationalist journalism.  It's done just for ratings.  It's counter productive.  It's hyperbolic.  And it's time for it to go.  There's no need for it and no place for it.

All of us in the "internet industry" are not just in the business of developing new products and ideas that could change the world, we're also all in the business of figuring out a sustainable business model.  That's very hard to do.  Efforts should be lauded.  Mistakes should be acknowledged.  Report the facts when layoffs happen.  But there's no need to go tabloid when startups go sideways or don't make it.

The technology startup industry and supporting economy/financing model is designed to reward trying and failing and trying and failing and trying and failing and hopefully succeeding over time.  Not every startup will make it.  In fact, very few will.  That's just how it works.  So, let's celebrate the entreprenuership spirit and have educated discussions around mistakes made and lessons learned.  But leave the deadpool and the

How Can YOU Help socialmedian Weather The Financial Crisis?October 20
Thank you everyone for all the great responses and feedback to our blog post on Friday regarding how this small scrappy startup is surviving (and growing) during the financial crisis.  Your emails and comments on this have been great.

A number of you have asked me what YOU could do to help socialmedian weather the financial crisis.
Wow!  We never anticipated that sort of a response.  It's really flattering and downright awesome that socialmedian's early users are so interested in our future growth and survival.

As I've noted, our primary focus right now is on making socialmedian more engaging for our users -- so we're staying small and moving fast while we do that so that we spend as little money as possible while we focus on creating product you and others will love.

Usage and growth and burn are 3 areas that you can help us with though.
I've put some thought to it over the weekend and I'd like to take you up on the offer to help.  Here's what you can do.

The number 1 thing you can do to help is to invite your friends and contacts to join socialmedian.  And that's really easy to do.  You can invite your friends to socialmedian by:
  1. Get our Facebook application and invite your Facebook contacts to follow you on socialmedian.
