Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook stuck with each otherYesterday

President-elect Barack Obama has picked Tim Geithner, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, rather than former Harvard University president Larry Summers, as Treasury secretary. That makes it unlikely that Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, who worked for Summers when he ran the Treasury for Bill Clinton, will return to Washington.

Obama's net neutrality man plays WarcraftNovember 19

kevinwerbach.jpgSupernova conference organizer Kevin Werbach is part of President Change's FCC transition team. I've hung out with the guy, and I never would've guessed he belongs to not one, but two guilds in World of Warcraft. Here's his take on WoW's benefits to grownups:

What the game does is provide an incentive for people to develop new software and ideas for collaborative production. Many of those ideas will translate to other group activities, including those within the business world. I think [massively multiplayer online games] will be, at a minimum, a significant testbed for these new technologies, because users see a direct benefit and are willing to experiment with new things.

Law may require President Change to give up cellphone, emailNovember 15

bbb.jpgThe New York Times reports that as President, Barry O may not be allowed to use a smartphone. Not even an iPhone. Worse: "A decision has not been made on whether he could become the first e-mailing president, but aides said that seemed doubtful." Twitter is right out. Eric Schmidt's 20 percent time projectNovember 14

Can you think of a better caption? Leave it in the comments. the best one will become the post's new headline. Yesterday's winner: jasonnellis, for "That's not a sweater, honey." Israeli politican: Yes, we can copy your websiteNovember 14

custom_1226703551438_netanyahu.jpgThe campaign site for Binyamin "Bibi" Netanyahu," the Israeli candidate for prime minister, is a mirror-image copy of BarackObama.com, flopped to accommodate the right-to-left Hebrew script. Right down to the icons, it mirrors the website developed by Blue State Digital, reports the New York Times. The new-media touches may not all translate; Israel only has a couple thousand Twitter users, making it an unlikely get-out-the-vote mechanism. The imitation is meant as flattery: Netanyahu and Obama have met twice and are said to get along, and the Israeli candidate is campaigning on a similar theme of change.
